Harvard University ranks first in the ranking of the best. His students and teachers were eight US presidents and 75 Nobel laureates. Harvard has the best business school and takes first place in the number of graduates-billionaires, and the academic library of the institution is the largest in America.
The founder of this illustrious university is John Harvard - a missionary, pastor, philanthropist.
She and Anne had no children, and so John transferred half of his property and 400 books from his own library to the college, on the basis of which the illustrious Harvard University grew. In gratitude, the college, and eventually the university, is named after him. And in 1884, a monument to John Harvard was erected at the university courtyard.
When John turned 18, a terrible epidemic of plague began in England, from which his father, sister and two brothers died. Soon, the mother married a second time, and died a few years later.
His father left John a significant inheritance, but the young man was little interested in possessions and money.
He later married Anne Sedler, and the young family went on a long journey across the ocean. John and his wife settle in Boston, buying a piece of land nearby.
The life of this special person was short and full of suffering. He experienced more than once the pain of losing his loved ones, but, despite all this, he remained a faithful servant of God until the last minute of his life. Therefore, probably, the Lord immortalized his name in the name of the best university in the world
