The Dickens family lived in abundance, the father rolled children on a yacht ... But financial difficulties destroyed their family comfort. Father Charles was imprisoned for non-payment of debts, and a difficult period began in the boy's life. Although Dickens was the best student in the school, at the age of eleven he was forced to leave school.Mom went to jail with her husband, and Charles worked at the factory from morning till night. Severe working conditions were imprinted in his mind and had a great influence on the future writer. After hard work, Charles often walked through the slums of the city, studying the life of poor people, whom he would describe in time in his works.
After some time, his grandmother Elizabeth Dickens dies, leaving an inheritance. Father pays creditors and leaves prison. The future writer changes jobs and gets a job as a clerk in a law office.
Despite the difficult circumstances of life, Dickens still writes his first works. Once they fell into the hands of one of the publishers, and he printed them, without giving the writer a dime. The publisher nevertheless praised the young man, which inspired Charles to create again.
The fame of Dickens continued to grow after his death. His name is put on a par with Shakespeare and Byron.
