Robert Koch, a fighter against death.

Robert Koch, a fighter against death.
At the time the scientist worked, tuberculosis was one of the most common diseases. Every seventh died from him. Mankind has been familiar with tuberculosis for a thousand years, many doctors considered the disease to be congenital and said that there was no point in fighting it. All the doctors could do was send the patient to the resort, where the disease developed more slowly.
Near the house of Koch was located a hospital in which there were patients with tuberculosis. Robert went there every day and took sputum for research. The invisible enemy managed to hide for a long time, but the scientist did not give up, and, finally, he saw great success: Koch discovered the causative agent of tuberculosis - the tubercle bacillus.
In 1882, Koch published the principles of the search for pathogenic bacteria (microbiologists still use these principles). This article revolutionized the scientific world.
After some time, the German government sends the scientist to Egypt, and later to India to fight against cholera, which scared the inhabitants of these countries. And again, Koch is waiting for a great discovery: he finds the so-called cholera vibrio.
In 1905, Robert Koch "for research and discoveries that relate to the treatment of tuberculosis," was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. But the scientist did not stop there and again went to Africa - now to combat sleeping sickness. On May 27, 1910, Koch dies of a heart attack.
Robert Koch is always remembered as a purposeful, patient and very scrupulous man. Perhaps these virtues of his character helped him make incredible discoveries and save millions of people from death. The aspiration of this noble scientist was to help people who suffered, and he will go down in history forever as a great fighter against death.
