On September 5, 1901, an assassination attempt was made on President McKinley. Nine days later he died from his injuries. Therefore, on September 14, 1901, the 42-year-old Theodore Roosevelt became the youngest president of the United States in history.
As president, he opens the door of the White House to all segments of the population. Roosevelt, a religious Protestant reformer, has always advocated the active participation of the church in the life of the country. He once remarked:
“If there is a place in the world where earthly temptations disappear, then this is the church, the presence of God. The closer people are to the heart of Christ, the closer they are to each other, whatever the conditions of their earthly life. ”
In 1912, during the election campaign, the president was assassinated: John Schrank shot at Roosevelt when he made a speech. The bullet hit the chest, first breaking through a metal case from glasses and a manuscript of speech. Roosevelt, as an experienced hunter and anatomist, determined that the wound was mild because he did not cough up blood. Blood poured down his shirt, but the president made his speech to the end, which lasted 90 minutes.
